At the Humane Society
Here are some pictures of me playing with Steve Earl, and another dog Sadie.
Sadie was very energetic, and this was her first time being out because she was still very young. Steve Earl was a shy one, but he soon came around to Chris and I.
Who are they?
The Winnipeg Humane Society is not only a place for hurt animals but a registered charity and non-profit, volunteer-based organization going merely off donations, memberships and bequests.
The Humane Society has a mission: To protect all animals from suffering and to promote their welfare and dignity
They want to see their vision: All animals are treated humanely
The humane society is one of the oldest community service organizations, and it is the oldest and longest animal shelter in Manitoba.

My friend Chris Leydier and I went to the Humane Society to see if we could get some volunteering hours, but unfortunately they were not having an orientation until April 8. They let us walk and play with a couple dogs, we even witnessed a dog get a little excited and had to help clean it up!
I am looking forward to the orientation because i still feel I should be helping with these animals. A couple hours out of my day to help animals, I think is a great thing!
The Picture above it me getting ready to take Steve Earl out for a walk, he is just a little excited.
Steve Earl was shot twice, one new wound and one that had been there for a while.

Letter To Humane Society
Dear all members of the humane society,
I feel what you do here is very noble, and I really appreciate what the humane society does for all these poor animals that do not have homes, or are sick.
I know all members are very busy looking after the animals, I just thought I would write a letter to say how glad I am that there is some place like this for animals who can not help themselves. I had a dog for 17 years, and my family and I got her from the humane Society. She recently passed away but she is in our hearts forever.
I am doing a school project for my environmental class, and it is an environmental action. We are supposed to think of an issue (problem) that we want to fix, but rather than fix a problem, I thought I would recognize a problem being fixed already. That is, the humane society taking in homeless or neglected animals and helping to heal them and giving them to loving homes.
Seeing what the people at the humane society put forth to help these animals is countless, and I someday hope that all the animals in the Humane Society acquire a good home. I am sincerely greatful we have a place like the Humane Society as do many other people. Please keep up the good work, and I hope you all know what a great and peaceful place the people of the Humane Society put forth, and all the hard work and efforts are congradulated.
Keep up the fantastic work!
Sincerely,
Rachael Sottana
People Disagree?
Alot of people would disagree with locking the animals up in small rooms to make sure they are safe and healing from wounds, but what is better? Being locked up and becoming healthy again? Or maybe not being able to have the second chance, and not knowing they could have been helped?
I feel that the Humane Society is doing the best they can. All the animals get all the medical attention they need to become healthy again, if they need surgery they get the surgery. There are plenty of volunteers that walk the dogs several times a day, feed them, give them attention, and make sure they are feeling good. They couldnt have all the animals out in the open because some probably would not get along with others and it probably would not be the safest thing. They get a bed to sleep in, food to eat, and a toy to play with, some animals are just happy with that. If the world were perfect every animal would have a home and we would not need the Humane Society, but as we know the world is not perfect and not all animals have homes. The Humane Society tries their hardest to help the animals out, and they hope that someday you can too!

Humane Society
For my Environmental action I went to the Humane Society. I feel the issue I am concerned about is the people who treat animals badly and get away with it, or the animals that are abandoned to live and fend for themselves. Humane Society takes the animals in and shelters them, they are solving the problem. Its a working progess and not all the animals are going to be saved or helped, but whoever they can help they will. Some animals don't get a second chance, and its a terrible thing.
Helping Animals
Helping animals is great!
The Humane Society is a place that does this, it does a great amount for these poor animals that come from homes that have neglected them, or just off the street. The Humane Society brings the animals in and heals them, hoping that a loving family will come in and take one home!
